Bees can pose a threat especially if we are allergic to bee stings or have young children playing outside. But they are also beneficial insects that pollinate our plants. The best approach is to seek a live removal of the swarm or hive if possible. On private property it is the owner’s responsibility to remove the bees. If you are a renter – contact your landlord or property management company to address the problem.
Contact a licensed pest control contractor or a local beekeeper. Here is a detailed list of FAQs to help you: https://ucanr.edu/sites/sandiegobees/FAQs/#FAQ1. You can also contact the University Cooperative Extension for help: www.sdcountybees.org or 1-800-200-BEES.
The San Diego Beekeeping Society is committed to live bee removal (https://www.sandiegobeekeepingsociety.com/bee-removal.html). They maintain a list of local beekeepers who will remove your bees for a fee.
The County does not provide bee removal services to residents.
